Previously Reported Descendants of
Maj. John Lewis of King & Queen Co VA

Generation #3

Incorrect relationship: John (2John, 1John) Lewis

There are few records for some of the people we are researching. And, it is natural that we would attempt to connect the disparate Lewis families. Previously, many Lewis records have been attached to the predominant Lewis Family of Warner Hall. Of note, the only proven children of Maj. John Lewis of Chemokins are Edward and Councilor John Lewis of Warner Hall. This is an attempt to document some of these records which should be disconnected.

The Lewis Family of Henrico Co VA

There was a prominent John Lewis family of Henrico Co VA. Unfortunately, this family is not well documented. And, this family was incorrectly associated with the Warner Hall family. This family has correctly been identified as the family of Joseph Lewis of Henrico Co VA; therefore, the Christian name Joseph is disassociated from the Warner Hall family.

According to Robert JCK Lewis, the progenitor of this Lewis family was probably William Lewis who was listed as a headright for Rice Hoe (How) in June 1639 in James City County. William's spouse is not known. William's son would have been John Lewis of Henrico Co VA.
