Generation #5

James (4Phillip, 3John, 2Andrew, 1William) Tannehill

James Tannehill is included in this research as a placeholder to allow documentation for the possible siblings for Melissa Tannehill who married Thomas Case II b. 1769 Tryon Co NC (now Pendleton/Pickens Co SC).

James Tannehill was born in about 1732 in North Carolina. In about 1760, probably in North Carolina, James married Ann Smith b. c. 1740. Was this Ann also a member of the Smith Family of the Nathan Smith Settlement?

James is first found in the 1790 Abbeville Co SC Census. James also received a Franklin Co GA land grant which indicates he was awarded a Revolutionary War grant. Whether or not  James ever accessed the grant is not known.

Reportedly, James died 1803 in Abbeville Co SC.
