Susannah Burnett Blackmore of London, England (Conjecture)

Susannah Burnett was christened 12/7/1605 at St. Benet Fink Parish in north London, England. Susannah was the daughter of Rolf Burnett and Magdalen Clarke. Rolf, her father was a noted cloth merchant of London.

In about 1625 in England, Susannah married Arthur Blackmore b. c. 1595 Cheshire, England with whom she had one daughter. Arthur and Susannah migrated before 5/1632 to Delft, Holland, where he worked as a merchant. But, Arthur died between 5/1/1632 and 4/30/1633 in Delft.

Shortly after the loss of her husband, Susannah Burnett Blackmore married Sir William Moseley b. 12/7/1606 in London, England. William had established himself as an English Merchant Adventurer. We known of William and Susannah's marriage from a court proceeding in Delft. On 12/22/1634 William, as the husband of the Widow Blackmore, was sued for payment of rent. By 8/14/1643 William and Susannah were in Rotterdam where he served as Steward of the English House.

On about 8/14/1649, William and Susannah immigrated to Lower Norfolk Co VA where William is first found in records dated 11/30/1649. The family's immigration date is set by daughter Susanna's will which was prepared in anticipation of the perilous voyage across the Atlantic. William built Rolleston Hall named his ancestral family seat in Staffordshire, England. William reportedly brought with him from England to Holland to Virginia a copy of his arms, and many family portraits.

Later in life, William served as a Justice from 1649 to 1655. His will, dated 29 June, 1655. was probated 15 Aug. of the same year. He left a wife, Susanna, and sons, Arthur and William. The inventory of the wife's estate is dated 8 Feb., 1655-6.
