Descendants of Dad Walden of Virginia

Generation #2

Mary (2Dad, 1Dad) Walden (Conjecture)

Mary Walden was born c. 1750 in Spotsylvania Co VA. And, Mary's surname is determined by circumstantial evidence. The Lewis Family Naming Pattern serves as a guide:

In this Lewis Family, the firstborn son is named after the paternal grandfather. The second-born son is named after the mother's family. In Generation 7, John Anderson Lewis' grandfather should have been and was John Lewis. If Walden was the second born in Generation 6, Walden should be his maternal grandfather's first name or surname. And, William Walden was the progenitor of the Walden Family of Spotsylvania Co VA. Beginning with Walden Lewis b. c. 1774, the first name Walden is continued in our Lewis family until this day.

Listed below are other connections between the Walden and Lewis families:

In about 1770, Mary Walden married John Lewis of Fredericksburg b. c. 1748 in Spotsylvania Co VA. John and Mary are believed to be the parents of Taverner and Walden Lewis who migrated to Mississippi. Mary Ann outlived John by only a few years, dying at age 49 or so. On 4/9/1799 a Mary Walden's death was announced in the Virginia Herald.
