Alma (1Johan August) Johansdottir (Jonsson) of Sweden
Alma was born in 1881 in Safsjo, Jonkoping Lan, Sweden. And, Alma immigrated as a young woman to America.
From the 1910 Williamson Co TX census, we learn that Alma immigrated in 1902 to America. As she is not found in immigration documents with surname Jonsson or the patronymic Johansson, reasonable conjecture leads to the belief that Alma was married when she arrived in Texas.
In 1907 in Texas Alma married Eiler Hansen b. 8/11/1886 Travis Co TX. And, Alma is found in the 1910 and 1920 Williamson Co TX censuses.
By 1930 we find that the family had migrated south to the Rio Grande Valley, living in Willacy County. The older boys, sons Herbert and Arthur, were out of the house and are found to the west in Brooks County. The family would travel many miles over poor roads so that Alma could attend church in the Swedish language in Raymondville. But, Alma died in 1930.
Family stories inform that Alma's daughter Evelyn had Alma's body reburied at Cook Walden-Forest Oaks Memorial Park, Travis Co TX.
