James Simeon (3James, 2William II, 1William) Lewis
James Simeon Lewis was born in about 1756 in New Hanover Co NC. In about 1780 James married an unknown spouse. Unfortunately his first wife died in about 1785, perhaps upon the birth of daughter Lydia. In about 1786, James married Rachel Godwin b. c. 1760 New Hanover Co NC.
Before 1790 James moved his family to Robeson Co NC where they are enumerated in the 1790 Census. In about 1804, the family migrated to Brunswick Co NC, just across the boundary from Georgetown Dist. SC. And, the family is found enumerated in the 1810 Census.
James Simeon died in about 1815; as the last time he is enumerated was the 1810 Brunswick Co NC Census. With the 1820 Census, son Simeon is found as head-of-household, born in about 1780. James Simeon's will was probated in 1829, possibly upon the death of wife Rachel.
