This family's Scot ancestry was originally researched by Flora Burdette Taylor of San Antonio TX and her cousin, Dr. Donald McRae of Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. McRae researched his McRae/Taylor family who migrated to America, traveling in 1974 throughout the US even to Old Philadelphus Church in Wayne Co MS. Through Dr. McRae's efforts, we learn that this family were members of South Knapdale Parish in Lochgilphead, Argyle, Scotland, where some of their records were found.

Angus Taylor, the progenitor of this Taylor Family was born in Scotland about 1760. And around 1784, Angus married Mary Graham who was born in 1764 in Scotland. The first records for this family are found in the Parish registers for Argyllshire at Edinburgh, Scotland.

Angus died sometime before 1820. And, Mary Graham Taylor and her daughter, Mary Taylor, remained behind in Scotland.

Family oral tradition states that Daniel Ira and Malcolm and possibly Donald were sent to live with cousins in the Carolinas. Sometime before 1817, Daniel Ira and Malcolm migrated to Mississippi, eventually settling in Wayne County.
