The Zachary Lewis Family

Note: Information on the Lewis Family before Walden Lewis b. c. 1774 in Virginia comes from assumptions based on multiple sources. Therefore, the information on this page is not reliable for genealogical purposes. A detailed discussion of the many connections can be found at Lewis Family Research.

Zachary Lewis (0Research) of Breconshire Wales

This Zachary is a member of the Breconshire, Wales, Lewis family. And, this Zachary is important as a link to other members of the Zachary Lewis family of Virginia:

1. Christopher Lewis, who immigrated by 4/1684 to New Kent (now King and Queen) Co VA and patented land.
2. Sarah Lewis Shackelford, sister of Zachary Lewis I.
3. Zachary Lewis I of King and Queen Co VA who patented land in 1694 adjacent to Christopher Lewis.
4. Dorcas Lewis, little-known sister of Sarah and Zachary I.

There is no proof that this Zachary immigrated to Virginia. But, young son Zachary I would have been only about 19 years-old. Reasonable conjecture leads to the belief that the Lewis children would have immigrated in the company of an older person.

If this Zachary did immigrate to Virginia, this Zachary is first documented in 1694 when he or his son patented land adjacent to Christopher Lewis. This Christopher was most probably a close cousin or even a brother. And, there is evidence which connects to daughters Sarah and Dorcas.

Dorcas Lewis and Sarah Lewis were entered as headrights.
