Thomas (2Benjamin 1Thomas) Wheeler of Licking Co OH

Research Note: Thomas is selected as the father for Althea and her generation because of circumstantial evidence. Both Althea and her brother Thomas cite their father's POB as Virginia. However, they fail to cite a POB for their mother. This leads to the belief that they did not know their mother. As Thomas' first wife died before 1840, Thomas' older children would not necessarily have had a lot of information on their mother and her family.

Thomas Wheeler was born 1801 in Hardy Co (W) VA. In about 1816 and after his mother's death, the Wheeler Family migrated to Licking Co OH.

On 2/10/1822 in Licking Co OH, Thomas married Mariah Hughes b. c. 1802 Fairfield Co OH. Unfortunately, Mariah died in about 1838 after the birth of daughter Christina.

Sometime before the 1840 Licking Co OH Census, Thomas married Amelia Platt b. 1812 Licking Co OH. Thomas and Amelia are first found document in the censuses for 1840, 1850 and 1860. Thomas died sometime after 1860 in Licking Co OH.
