Descendants of Alexander Roche of England

Union Flag of England and
Scotland (1606-1801)

Generation #2

Jane (1Alexander) Roche of Dorchester Co MD

Jane Roche was born in about 1645 in England. And in about 1665, Jane married Edmond Brannock b. c. 1640 in Devonshire, England.

Jane and Edmond migrated in 1666 from Bristol, England, to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This migration date is proven by a 1673 land grant to Edmund for headright. Of note, Jane's father and brother migrated before 2/1663. Reasonable conjecture leads to the belief that Jane and Edmond followed her family shortly thereafter.

Jane is last recorded in her father's 1774 Somerset Co MD will. And, she died sometime before 1/1703 when Edmond wrote his will.

"The Early Settlers of Maryland":
Edmund Brannough immigrated to Maryland in 1666 with his wife Jane.
The first record of a Brannock in Dorchester County appears in Pat. L17, F76, which shows that Edmond Brannock immigrated with his wife, Jane, in 1666.
A grant was received by Edmond Brannock for transporting himself and wife Jane on November 14, 1673 (Pat L19, F4), for 100 acres called "Timber Neck" and it was located on Fishing Creek of Little Choptank River.
Somerset Co MD Will Book 1, p. 619:
Jane Brannock named in Alexander Roche's will.
