Mary (1Michael) Mulick

Research Note: Information on Mary Mulick prior to her marriage in 1855 to Michael Maloney was excerpt from "A Mulick Anthology," 1993 <https://dcms.lds.org/> 3 November 2014.

Mary Mulick was born 1838 in County Roscommon, Ireland. Remarkably, this Irish Catholic family immigrated to America  before the Great Famine.

On 11/4/1855 Mary is first found in Indiana where she married Michael Maloney b. 1811 in Montrath, County Laois, Ireland. Michael is believed to have been married previously; as one of his known children is only about eight years younger than Mary.

Michael and Mary are found in Indiana in 1853 where son Patrick was born. Before 1860 the family migrated to Douglas Co IL where daughter Catherine was born. And by 1865, they migrated to Denison, Crawford Co IA.

Michael and Mary farmed in the Irish Catholic settlement south of Denison. Michael died in 1875 in Crawford Co IA, and is buried in the Old Catholic Cemetery, Denison IA. After Michael's death, according to a descendant of Michael, the family "scattered off" leaving each child to make their way in the world. And, this is true.

After Michael's death, Mary migrated west to Council Bluffs IA and lived with her daughter, Mary Langmade. Mary died 3/16/1925 in Pottawattamie Co IA and is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Council Bluffs IA.
