Margaretha Gretje (³Peter, ²Peter, ¹Hinrich) Arp of Davenport, Iowa

Margaretha Gretje Arp was born 7/10/1842 in Prasdorf, Probstei, Duchy of Holstein. As a young girl, Margaretha immigrated with her family to New Orleans in 1847. And, she grew up on the family farm in Eldridge IA.

On 3/14/1867 in Davenport IA, Margaretha married Heinrich "Henry" Wiese b. 1/25/1837 Bendfeld, Duchy of Holstein. Henry and Margaretha farmed in the community of Probstei, Davenport IA where German was the predominant language. They were very successful farmers, retiring early to a home in Davenport.

Margaretha died 12/20/1915 in Davenport IA. Henry outlived Margaretha by five years, dying in 1920. Both are buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport IA.
