Generation #2

Metje (Bastiaens) Bastiaens of New Amsterdam

Metje Bastiaens was born in about 1645 in Werckhoven, Dutch Republic. And, Metje immigrated 6/1660 with her family to New Amsterdam, Dutch America.

In about 1663, Metje married Claes Theuniszen, who evidently died early. Metje is first found in records in November 1665 when she married Cornelis Janszen b. c. 1640  Beesd, the Dutch Republic. And from this record, we learn that Metje was already a young widow.

Metje and Cornelis had a wonderful life, living on his many properties in Harlem, NY. Cornelis died after 2/1689 in  Manhattan NY when his will was written. And, Metje died after 3/1705.
