William Jackson of North Carolina
William Jackson was born 1779 in North Carolina. William migrated by 1790 to Franklin Co GA. This William is believed to be the father of Elizabeth Jackson; as he is found in records associated with the Nathan Smith Settlement in the vicinity of Hollingsworth, Franklin (now Banks) Co GA
In about 1800 in Georgia, William married Celia Brantley? b. 1779 in North Carolina. Some researchers believe that Celia or William and Celia were Choctaw Indians. As both were born in North Carolina, this is not feasible. If these persons were Indian, they would necessarily be Cherokee; as the Cherokees were from the lands which include North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee and the Choctaws are an Alabama and Mississippi tribe. And, DNA proves none of my ancestors were American Indian.
In about 1816, the family migrated to Lawrence Co MS. In the 1820 census, we do not find William by name. Perhaps, he was living with another family member. In 1830 William is found in Copiah Co MS.
With the opening of the new lands from the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit in 1833, the family migrated to Carroll Co MS. Other family members also found in Carroll Co MS are the Cases and Minyards. William is found in both the 1840 and 1850 Carroll Co MS Censuses. William died sometime after 1850 in Carroll Co MS.
