Generation #3

Mary (2Edward, 1Thomas) Graham of Virginia

Mary Graham was born in about 1713 in Stafford Co VA. There is a report which indicates Mary first married Thomas Shirley ch. 2/1/1701 Northumberland Co VA. This would have been future husband Richard Shirley's older brother.

In about 1735 in Virginia, Mary Graham married Richard Shirley b. 1712 Northumberland Co VA. Their marriage is proven by the 1750 Fairfax Co VA land transaction where Richard and Mary sold her dowry land which had been bequeathed by her father.

Richard and Mary migrated about 1768 to what would become Laurens Co SC with the acquisition of a Royal land grant. Richard is known to have died before 1775; as his children and widow sold a portion of the land from the original land grant in 1775.
