Generation #3

Jane (2Daniel Ira, 1Angus) Taylor

For years there has been the belief that William Wesley McPhearson's wife was named Martha Jane. This may have originated from his two wives named Martha (Martha Moulds) and Jane (Jane Taylor). However, the tombstone on her grave at Pleasant Grove Cemetery simply shows Jane.

Jane Taylor was born 12/15/1822 in Jackson Co MS. Jane was first enumerated in her parents home in the 1830 Greene Co MS Census at age 8. Her family migrated to Wayne Co MS by 1840 where they are again found in the census.

Jane's mother, Mary Fairley, died prior to the 1840 Census. And, Jane and her younger brothers are found in the 1850 Wayne Co MS Census living together in the family home after the death of their father.

In 1851 Jane Taylor married William Wesley McPhearson b. 4/9/1827 in Laurens Co SC. William and Jane lived together in Jasper Co MS until William's departure for the Civil War. William returned from the war, and he and Jane took up their lives again. But Jane died in 11/1866 in Jasper Co MS.
