William (4James, 3James, 2James, 1Edmund) Lewis
William Lewis was born in about 1752 in Spotsylvania Co VA. In about 1770 William married Elizabeth Ingram b. 1755 Johnston Co NC.
William and family migrated by 1/1797 to Woodford Co KY. Proof is found in the marriage of son Fielding to Elizabeth Claxton on 1/17/1797. William would have been a first generation pioneer pushing west of the Cumberlands, settling the lands of the Ohio Valley.
Two Lewis men are found in the 1800 Woodford Co KY Tax List, William and his oldest son, Fielding, along with Fielding's father-in-law, Joshua Claxton. William and Elizabeth lived their lives in Franklin Co KY. Reportedly, William died in 1825.
