Sarah Elizabeth (4Nathan, 3John, 2John, 1Research) Evans of Licking Co OH

Research Notes:

We know that the Henry Clark Weaver Family is related to this Evans Family from the 9/22/1910 notice in the Newark Advocate. From the family members listed, we find not only Clark Weaver but his ex sister-in-law, Hattie Billman Coffman.

In the 1860 Licking Co OH Census, Susan is listed as Susan C. Evans. But on her tombstone in the Evans Cemetery, which was purchased and established by her grandfather John Evans, her name is Sarah C., wife of Wm. Fry.

Sarah Elizabeth Evans was born 12/24/1853 in Licking Co OH. Sarah was married in about 1873 in Licking Co OH to William Fry b. 4/1847 Licking Co OH.

Unfortunately, Sarah, age 23, died after the birth of son, Henry Clark (Fry) Weaver. Shortly thereafter, William Fry allowed the Weaver Family to adopt young Henry. After the adoption, William and daughter Amada are found living in the Evans home.

Evidently, Sarah's death had a profound effect on William. Although he worked at several jobs, he never owned property. William can be found in subsequent censuses living with his wife's parents and then his daughter. William is buried with his wife in Evans Cemetery. [Fry Research Notes]
