Descendants of Johann Balthazar Sger

Duchy of Hesse (1806 - 1918)

Generation #2

John (1Johann Balthazar) Sager of Pennsylvania

John Sager was born in about 1750 in Neunkirchen, Darmstadt, Duchy of Hesse. John immigrated in the company of his family to Philadelphia in 1756. Evidence for this immigration date comes from an Ohio biography for brother Gabriel Sager.

John lived in the Philadelphia/Bucks County area until his migration to Loudoun Co VA. A John Sager is found as witness and executor of Stephen Durenberger's estate in Morris Co NJ. Note, until 1753, Morris County extended all the way west to the Delaware River in the vicinity of Bucks Co PA. [Great Wagon Road]

In 1777 in Loudoun Co VA, John Sager married his neighbor, Mary Barb b. 1761, reportedly in Hunterdon Co NJ. On 11/19/1779 Jacob Barb purchased land near Stony Creek in Shenandoah Co VA. And, John and Mary migrated along with the Barb Family.

After settling in Shenandoah Co VA, John and Mary migrated before 1789 to Hardy Co (W) VA where the majority of their children were born. John died 4/1833 in Hardy Co VA.
