Jacob (2Jacob, 1Isaac) Hutto, Jr. of Wayne Co MS
Jacob Hutto, Jr. was born 1773 in Orangeburg Co SC. Jacob is first found enumerated in his father's home in Orangeburg Co SC in the 1790 Census. In about 1800, Jacob married Lydia Lewis b. 1785 New Hanover Co NC. Evidence of Lydia's maiden name as Lewis comes from the couple naming their first/second son Lewis Hutto.
Jacob and Lydia migrated to what would become Barnwell County just south of Orangeburg and are found enumerated in the 1800 Census with the name Jacob Hittels. Growing up in a German speaking home, it is understandable that the census taker may not have understood Jacob's spelling of his name. In 1810 Jacob and Lydia are found back in Orangeburg, presumably on the family homestead. This would be reasonable; as Jacob was possibly an only son.
After the 1816 Census, Jacob, Lydia, and children migrated to Wayne Co MS. The year is fixed by son Henry Pickney's birth in 1811 in SC and son Jason's birth in 1819 in Wayne Co MS.
Jacob and family were enumerated in both the 1820 and 1830 Wayne Co MS Census. But, Jacob is no longer present by the 1840 Census. Jacob died between 1830 and 1840 in Wayne Co MS. Lydia died after 1840 in Wayne Co MS and the family dispersed to Jasper and Perry counties.
