Generation #3

Edward (2Edward, 1Thomas) Newton of Maryland

Edward Newton was born in about 1685 in Dorchester Co MD. In about 1708 in Dorchester Co MD, Edward married Frances Willis b. 8/7/1688 in Dorchester Co MD. And, Edward and Francis lived together for over twenty years, raising at least eight children.

The only record found for Edward and Frances is the 1720 Quaker wedding for James Fookes and Elizabeth Kennerly. Of special significance is the fact that Thomas Brannock, Frances' future husband is also listed as a witness. This begs the question, "Were the Newtons and Brannocks also Quakers?"

But, Edward died before 6/1730 in Dorchester Co MD. His widow, Frances, married Thomas Brannock b. 1675 Dorchester Co MD shortly thereafter. As Frances married Thomas Brannock, son William would later marry Esther Brannock, and daughter Alice would later marry William Brannock.
